Should Canada consider a Tax on harp seal products?

Why not cut the salaries of all Members of Parliament by a percentage whose sum total is equal to losses incurred by all the fisherman who depend on the seal hunt to survive, distribute it in the form of a monthly benefit cheque and ban the hunt altogether?
