Question about motor oil?

I have been using Quaker state 10w-30 in my vehicles. I recently had to remove the intake manifold due to the gasket leaking. I was totally disappointed with the filth and sludge buildup all over the push rods,rocker arms, valve covers, etc. I mean everywhere and thick .Is there a brand that I could switch too that would be better? It will take forever to get this mess cleaned up to put this motor back together. HELP!!!
